In collaboration with the Justice Institute of BC, PSEA is pleased to offer this new course that puts emphasis on the way we think about Leadership and the assumptions we attach to it. Through self-reflection, leadership assessments, interactive discussions and a variety of online activities, participants will explore personal values, leadership styles, cognitive bias and the impact of diverse perspectives - including those from Indigenous teachings. They will develop practical leadership strategies that emphasize inclusion, emotional intelligence, and EDI awareness. Designed as a reflective and interactive experience, this course empowers participants to lead with clarity, integrity, and purpose.
Learning Outcomes
- Critically assess personal leadership by exploring the application of values-based leadership models in a unionized workplace.
- Identify key elements of Indigenous worldviews and examine their connections to values-based leadership.
- Apply emotional intelligence (EI) strategies to demonstrate self-awareness, emotional regulation, and leadership effectiveness.
- Analyze personal privilege and power and apply strategies to foster equitable and inclusive relationships in leadership practice in a unionized workplace.
- Apply inclusive leadership by honouring and integrating diverse perspectives to foster respect, equity, and belonging in teams and organizations.
- Synthesize personal values, strengths, and leadership style to develop a continuous leadership growth plan.
Please note: Participants who complete the workshop will receive credit from the JIBC toward their Associate Certificate in Inclusive Leadership
Facilitators:
Jason Cressey, specializes in interpersonal and communication skills. After several years spent lecturing in university environments, he felt a strong desire to take the ideas from the academic world and apply them in real-world settings. Since 2000, he has been a consultant and workshop facilitator for a wide range of clients - from small non-profits to global corporations - on a variety of leadership-related topics. He has travelled extensively and brings the insights gained from work and research with many different cultures into his teaching style.
