In collaboration with the Justice Institute of BC, PSEA is pleased to offer this three-day course on evidence-based theory, skills and approaches for managing one's own intense emotions and behaviours, and for responding to intense emotion in others. Intense emotions are often viewed as scary, immature, weak, or, at best, unproductive. However, our ability to recognize, validate, and interpret intense emotion in ourselves and in others is key to remaining aligned with our collaborative intent in resolving conflict. Topics such as cultural expressions of emotion, emotion activators, emotions and physiology, self-regulation, defusing and disengaging from intense encounters are explored. Emphasis is on self-awareness and skill development through small-group exercises.
Important note: Participants must complete Foundations of Collaborative Conflict before taking Navigating Intense Emotions During Conflict.
Participants who complete the workshop will receive credit from the JIBC toward their Certificate in Collaborative Conflict Resolution.
