BC Sexual Violence Legislation: What it Means for Your Institution

Sexual violence legislation in British Columbia has evolved—and post-secondary institutions are expected to understand, implement, and respond effectively. One of the upcoming changes will be the requirement to provide and report on training. 

This session will provide an overview of free training courses offered by BCcampus, which meet the requirements of the upcoming legislation. 

Participants will: 

• Gain a clear understanding of the new legislative requirements and expectations on sexual violence training;
• Learn about the resources, tools, and supports available through BCcampus to help institutions meet their obligations and strengthen prevention and response efforts; and
• Have space to ask questions and reflect on how the legislation applies within their own context.

Whether you are involved in policy development, student support, leadership, or training, this session will help you feel more confident navigating the legislative landscape and leveraging provincial resources to support safer campus communities.

Facilitators: 

Robynne Devine (she/her) is the Senior Project Manager of the Project Management Office at BCcampus where she is responsible for project oversight and project management for projects at BCcampus. Robynne worked on several projects to develop openly licensed sexualized violence training resources for the B.C. post-secondary system. Robynne holds a Master of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies, specializing in leadership and organizational culture. When Robynne isn’t working she is likely cuddling with her dogs or playing with her grandsons.
