In collaboration with the Justice Institute of BC, PSEA is pleased to offer this three-day course, which introduces you to the concepts, skills, and approaches needed to facilitate a conflict conversation between two conflicting parties. Acting as an intervenor in this way resembles facilitating a conflict conversation or negotiation between the parties. You will learn how to conduct a collaborative process with and for your parties, from pre-meeting consultation to achieving agreements in joint meetings. This course will help you discern whether a mediative process is appropriate, define the role of the facilitator/mediator, guide the process, manage emotions and use communication skills as a facilitator of a collaborative process.
Emphasis is on skill development through simulated conflict conversations assisted by trained coaches.
Important note: Participants must complete Foundations of Collaborative Conflict before taking Mediation Fundamentals: Facilitating Difficult Conversations.
Participants who complete the workshop will receive credit from the JIBC toward their Certificate in Collaborative Conflict Resolution.
